Dispatch Supervisor

About the role

The Universal Group is seeking a Dispatch Supervisor to lead daily dispatch operations for traffic control personnel. Reporting to the Dispatch Manager, you will coordinate deployments to worksites, ensure compliance with safety and union standards, and support the overall effectiveness of the dispatch function.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise day‑to‑day dispatch activities, ensuring efficient deployment of traffic control staff to multiple sites.
• Provide direction and coaching to Traffic Coordinators and dispatch team members, enforcing established procedures.
• Monitor staffing levels, job assignments, and coverage, addressing shortages, cancellations, and last‑minute changes.
• Coordinate with Area Managers, subcontractors, and clients to maintain appropriate coverage and equipment availability.
• Act as a primary communication point between dispatch, field personnel, HR, and operations to resolve operational issues.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, occupational health and safety, traffic management standards, and union requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communication or related field (asset).
• 2‑4 years of experience in dispatch, logistics or traffic operations.
• Familiarity with Traffic Management Plans and the Traffic Control Manual for Work on Roadways (preferred).
