Director of Project Management Office

About the role

The PMO Director will lead Upshop’s Project Management Office, ensuring customer implementations are delivered on time, on budget, and with high satisfaction. This senior leader combines strategic vision with hands‑on execution to improve the scalability, efficiency, and profitability of professional services.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the PMO, establishing portfolio governance, delivery standards, reporting tools, and operational processes.
• Develop and maintain PMO policies, templates, dashboards, KPIs, and best‑practice frameworks.
• Provide visibility into project health, resource allocation, risks, and strategic priorities.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop a high‑performing team of Project Managers.
• Set performance goals, deliver coaching, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous learning.
• Oversee schedule management, scope control, risk mitigation, issue resolution, and stakeholder communication for customer implementations.
• Partner with Implementation, Product, Engineering, Customer Success, Sales, Finance, and Executive Leadership to drive successful outcomes.
• Lead strategic internal programs and continuous‑improvement initiatives based on lessons learned.

Required profile

• Extensive SaaS implementation experience, preferably in retail technology.
• Proven PMO leadership and governance expertise.
• Strong business and financial acumen.
• Passion for helping retailers transform operations through technology.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with product, engineering, and customer‑facing teams.
