Director of Construction

About the role

Argus Properties is seeking a Director of Construction to lead all development and construction activities across its diverse real‑estate portfolio. Based in Kelowna, the role reports to the Managing Director and senior management, overseeing projects that span office, industrial, retail, residential and hospitality sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and oversee all construction and development activities for the company’s portfolio.
• Directly supervise two project managers and an in‑house construction crew.
• Coordinate and supervise a wide variety of projects, including office, industrial, retail, residential and hospitality developments.
• Provide strategic input on development decisions and building renovations.
• Ensure project milestones and budgets are met, adhering to approved financial targets.
• Oversee scope, cost, schedule, staffing, third‑party consultants, general contractors and contractual deliverables.
• Communicate with contractors and designers regarding cost, staffing and scheduling.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers and other construction specialists.
• Liaise with city inspectors to ensure compliance with regulations and successful permitting.

Required profile

• Prior management experience in development and construction of commercial properties, multi‑residential projects and hotels.
• Proven ability to oversee real‑estate development projects from conception to completion.
• Strong leadership skills to guide multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• In‑depth knowledge of building codes, permitting processes and industry best practices.
