Director of Care – Registered Nurse

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic Director of Care (Registered Nurse) to lead our established 80‑bed community care operation and spearhead the launch of a new 90‑bed long‑term care facility in Charlottetown, scheduled to open in January 2027. Reporting to the Director of Nursing, you will be responsible for delivering high‑quality, compassionate care to seniors while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily clinical operations of the 80‑bed community care home and the upcoming 90‑bed long‑term care expansion.
• Lead, mentor, and evaluate nursing and care staff to ensure best practices and regulatory compliance.
• Develop and implement care policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate resident care plans and services.
• Monitor accreditation standards and prepare for provincial inspections.
• Manage staffing levels, scheduling, and resource allocation to meet resident needs.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN) with current licensure in Prince Edward Island.
• Significant leadership experience in senior or long‑term care settings.
• Proven ability to drive quality improvement and maintain accreditation standards.
• Strong communication skills and a passion for enhancing the lives of seniors.
