DevOps Embedded Pipeline Engineer (Hybrid, Ottawa)

About the role
Ford's Embedded Build & Pipeline (EEB&P) team is looking for a DevOps Specialist to join a hybrid workforce in Ottawa. You will work on either the "inner loop" as a Build Engineer or the "outer loop" as a Pipelines Engineer, helping to deliver ECU software at scale.
Key responsibilities
- Design, build and improve automation that enables fast, reproducible builds and reliable CI/CD pipelines.
- Shape developer workflows from code commit through testing, security gating and multi‑environment deployment.
- Ensure build and deployment systems meet reliability, availability and traceability requirements.
- Drive adoption of common platforms for observability, testing and automation.
- Leverage cloud and on‑prem technologies to provision build and test environments efficiently.
- Maintain clear documentation and collaborate with product teams for continuous improvement.
Required profile
- 5+ years of experience in a relevant DevOps or build engineering role.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Strong understanding of embedded C/C++ code and its impact on builds.
Required skills
- Python programming.
- Build systems such as Bazel, CMake, Make or Gradle.
- CI/CD platforms like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or Azure DevOps.
- Infrastructure‑as‑code and secrets management.
- Experience with cloud/on‑prem provisioning and deployment strategies (blue/green, canary).
