Desktop Support Technician I

About the role

The Desktop Support Technician I provides hands‑on assistance to end users across the Olathe Medical Pavilion network. The role focuses on installing, configuring, and maintaining desktop computers, peripherals, and software while delivering courteous, timely support through multiple channels.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, and troubleshoot desktop PCs, laptops, printers, and other peripheral equipment.
• Provide side‑by‑side, phone, email, and chat support to users, documenting all interactions in the Hospital Service Desk ticketing system.
• Work with third‑party vendors to resolve hardware and software issues.
• Create and maintain knowledge‑base articles in line with departmental standards.
• Participate in IT projects, inventory management, and on‑call rotation for after‑hours support.
• Train end users on basic hardware, software, and network resources.

Required profile

• Strong oral and written communication skills with a customer‑service focus.
• Ability to document issues accurately and follow established Service Level Agreements.
• Effective time‑management and prioritization skills.
• Willingness to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Required skills

• Desktop hardware installation and troubleshooting.
• Peripheral device configuration (printers, scanners, etc.).
• Software installation and updates.
• Basic networking concepts.
• Experience with ticketing systems (e.g., Hospital Service Desk).
