Design Architect

About the role

The Design Architect will deliver comprehensive architectural design services for transit facilities across the Greater Toronto Area. The role involves hybrid work, with 2‑3 days per week on‑site in North York and travel to other GTA sites as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Provide full architectural design services for transit‑related facilities, ensuring technical accuracy, code compliance, safety, constructability and cost‑effectiveness.
• Direct and review work of technologists, design draftspersons and other support staff.
• Gather project information through field investigations and office research.
• Prepare code compliance reviews and develop technical design reports, including schematic and preliminary designs.
• Manage design work according to approved work plans and schedules, and prepare complete contract documentation.
• Review, check and sign documentation as required; perform site reviews to support permitting and code compliance.
• Provide construction‑phase support, reviewing shop drawings, contract submittals and conducting field reviews.
• Coordinate preparation and justification of anticipated contract changes and support operational needs.
• Contribute to updates of internal design standards and guidelines.

Required profile

• University degree in Architecture with at least 10 years of experience on complex, multi‑disciplinary projects.
• Licensed Architect registered with the Ontario Association of Architects (mandatory) and maintaining active registration.
• Experience in transit facility design is an asset.
• Proficiency with MicroStation and Revit is an asset.

What we offer

• Hybrid work arrangement (2‑3 days on‑site per week).
• 12‑month contract with possibility of extension.
• Pay rate of $60‑80 per hour (T4 or INC).
• 35‑hour work week, Monday‑Friday.
