Data Technical Lead – Remote (Canada)

About the role

Cuesta Partners seeks a Data Technical Lead to work remotely from Canada, supporting a diverse client base on data‑focused consulting engagements. You will shape green‑field data environments, mentor team members, and drive the adoption of modern, AI‑augmented development practices.

Key responsibilities

• Act as a subject matter expert in data engineering, providing guidance and hands‑on support.
• Lead architectural discussions and set standards for AI‑augmented development practices.
• Plan, execute and deliver client‑facing and internal data projects on time and within scope.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts and business stakeholders to ensure seamless execution.
• Define technology strategy and roadmap for the Data Team together with the Team Lead.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
• 8‑10 years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
• Hands‑on experience with AI‑assisted development tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code, Codex).
• Strong leadership abilities and experience mentoring technical teams.

• Data modeling, ETL processes and data integration.
• Databricks, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric.
• Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP.
• SQL, Python, Apache Spark.
• AI‑assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, Codex.
