Data Developer II (15-Month Contract)

About the role

Global Excel Management is hiring a Data Developer II for a 15-month contract in Sherbrooke, Quebec. You will design, implement and maintain the company's data infrastructure and systems, with a strong emphasis on modern data technologies and cloud platforms, and help build scalable data solutions for advanced analytics.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain data pipelines, data warehouses and data lakes using Snowflake and Azure Data Services.
• Architect data solutions with DBT for transformation and Azure Data Factory for pipeline orchestration.
• Translate business and data requirements into efficient data models while respecting data governance and architecture standards.
• Use cloud-native services such as Azure Storage to optimise data management and scalability.
• Automate data quality checks with tools such as DBT tests and enforce data governance policies.
• Maintain data dictionaries, data lineage and metadata management processes, and work with stakeholders on data standards, naming conventions and classification.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or graduate degree in computer engineering, mathematics, data science or a related field.
• 4-6 years of professional experience in a related field.
• Proven track record of designing and implementing cloud-based data architectures focused on scalability, security and cost-efficiency.
• Ability to collaborate across teams, communicate complex technical solutions and drive consensus on best practices.

Required skills

• Relational and NoSQL databases (MS SQL Server, Snowflake, PostgreSQL, MariaDB).
• Azure cloud platform and cloud-based data services (preferred).
• Data modelling and transformation with DBT, and ETL tools such as Azure Data Factory, Airflow or Informatica.
• API knowledge and data integration strategies.
• Advanced proficiency in Snowflake, DBT and Azure Data Factory, strong SQL and data pipeline automation.
• Understanding of data governance frameworks, data quality management and security protocols; Azure or Snowflake certifications are a plus.
