Data Center Technician II

About the role

Google’s Hardware Operations team is seeking a Data Center Technician II to join its data‑center workforce in Canada. In this role you will install, configure, test, troubleshoot and maintain server hardware and associated software, as well as configure networking components that keep Google’s services running at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, test and maintain servers, storage devices and other data‑center hardware.
• Perform component‑level repairs and replace faulty parts on servers and networking equipment.
• Configure and troubleshoot networking protocols, routers, switches, hubs and bridges.
• Maintain Linux‑based cluster software and ensure proper server operating system functionality.
• Manually move and rack equipment, following safety procedures and physical‑handling guidelines.
• Lead or participate in small project teams for larger installations and develop contingency plans.
• Work on shift‑based schedules, including nights, weekends and holidays as required.

Required profile

• Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, computer/server hardware, or networking protocols.
• Hands‑on experience with component‑level repairs on technical equipment.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 lb (23 kg) and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods.
• Willingness to work non‑standard hours and shift‑based schedules.
• Valid or obtainable Reliability Status security screening from the Government of Canada.
