Data Analyst & Data Modeler – Insurance Risk (6‑month contract)

About the role

We are seeking a Data Analyst and Data Modeler with a strong background in insurance risk, underwriting, claims, and reinsurance. The position is a six‑month fixed‑term role based in Toronto, working in a hybrid model (three days onsite).

Key responsibilities

• Analyze insurance‑related data and business processes.
• Gather requirements and produce functional documentation.
• Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
• Develop data mappings, data‑quality checks, and analytics solutions.
• Build dashboards and reports using Power BI.
• Create Fabric‑based Lakehouse and data‑warehouse solutions.
• Perform SQL‑based analysis and reporting.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, developers, and Agile teams.

Required profile

• Strong experience with SQL and data modeling.
• Proficiency in Power BI, including DAX and semantic modeling.
• Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Fabric, Lakehouse, and data‑warehousing concepts.
• Solid knowledge of the insurance domain (underwriting, claims, reinsurance, risk).
• Experience gathering requirements and managing stakeholders.
• Background working in Agile/Scrum environments.
