Cybersecurity Systems Administrator II

About the role

The Cybersecurity Systems Administrator II designs and implements hardware and software solutions that support UBC’s cybersecurity infrastructure. The role defines system scope, provides recommendations, and works closely with the Office of the CISO, IT, academic units and faculty to ensure secure, reliable services.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze functional, security, scalability and performance requirements and propose implementation options.
• Contribute to planning and development of system enhancements for enterprise services.
• Investigate emerging technology trends (e.g., security, privacy, PCI, web‑services, middleware) and advise on their applicability.
• Provide Tier 2 operational support, including troubleshooting, patching, and documentation of production systems.
• Design, provision, configure and maintain systems, acting as liaison between technical groups and stakeholders.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
• Minimum five years of related experience in application and system support.
