Customer Service Representative – Counter Sales

About the role

The Counter Customer Service Representative (CCSR) serves customers at the Saint John branch, handling inquiries, processing orders and providing technical product support. The role combines front‑line sales with inventory and warehouse duties to ensure a seamless customer experience.

Key responsibilities

• Sell merchandise to customers over the counter, ensuring each interaction meets Graybar’s quality standards.
• Provide technical support on product selection and application.
• Maintain quality service by following organizational standards.
• Place new merchandise on display and track stock‑out items, recommending new stock as needed.
• Maintain inventory controls by collecting stock location orders and printing requests.
• Provide timely customer feedback to the Branch Manager.
• Assist in the warehouse with receiving, picking, and shipping products.
• Prepare orders by processing requests, pulling materials, packing boxes, and placing orders in the delivery area.
• Keep shelves and workstations neat, complying with safety procedures, rules and regulations.
• Participate in a rotational schedule for handling emergency after‑hours calls.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 12 education.
• One to three years of related warehouse/customer service experience in a distribution setting (preferred).
• Ability to lift up to 60 lb (light to moderate lifting).
• Excellent time‑management, organizational and prioritisation skills.
• Consistently able to meet deadlines.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated honesty, integrity and willingness to gain technical knowledge.
