Customer Service Attendant – Sport Facility

About the role

The City of Kitchener is seeking a friendly, front‑line team member to be the first point of contact for patrons at the upcoming Cowan Recreation Centre. Working primarily evenings and weekends, you will help create a welcoming environment for visitors using the sport, aquatic and community facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Greet and assist patrons in person, by phone and by email.
• Provide information on facility rentals, program registration, admissions and general use of the centre.
• Process payments using point‑of‑sale systems (cash, debit, credit).
• Use ActiveNet to share rental availability, pricing and conduct tours.
• Maintain a safe environment through patron monitoring, incident response and coordination with staff and emergency services.
• Assist with wayfinding, general navigation and basic office tasks as directed.
• Perform routine facility upkeep and support overall centre operations.

Required profile

• Strong customer‑service orientation with a proactive, friendly approach.
• Ability to work shift hours, especially evenings and weekends.
• Comfort handling cash and electronic transactions accurately.
• Good communication skills for interacting with diverse visitors.
• Capacity to respond to safety concerns and follow incident‑reporting procedures.

Required skills

• Experience with ActiveNet reservation software.
• Proficiency in operating point‑of‑sale (POS) systems.
