Curatorial Research Assistant

About the role

The Curatorial Research Assistant supports Ingenium’s Curatorial Division in developing and interpreting the museum’s collection of Canadian science and technology artifacts. Working under the direction of a Curator or Director, the role blends research, exhibition support, and public knowledge mobilisation.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct historical and technical research to inform collection documentation and interpretation.
• Assist in the development of exhibitions, digital products, and public‑facing knowledge initiatives.
• Retrieve artifacts for study and prepare them for display or research use.
• Present research findings at conferences, seminars, and internal meetings.
• Liaise with staff from other museums, institutions, and external partners.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in history, public history, history of science and technology, digital humanities, museum studies, science, engineering, or a related field.
• 1–2 years of experience in museums of science and technology, or an equivalent mix of education and curatorial practice.
• Broad knowledge of Canadian science and technology history and familiarity with oral‑history techniques.
• Understanding of museum collection development processes and material‑culture research methods.

• Hybrid work environment with a minimum of three onsite days per week.
• Annual salary range of $73,427.35 – $89,358.40 CAD.
• Indeterminate full‑time position (Permanent) with benefits and union affiliation (PSAC).
