About the role
The Crown Attorney provides prosecutorial services for matters arising under the Criminal Code of Canada and provincial statutes, appearing in both provincial and superior courts. The role also includes delivering legal opinions, reviewing police reports, and guiding police investigations.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct prosecutions in provincial and superior courts for criminal and statutory offences.
- Prepare and deliver legal opinions on criminal matters.
- Review police reports and assess evidence for charging decisions.
- Instruct police on charges, investigations, and procedural matters.
- Participate in community and legal education initiatives on criminal law and procedures on behalf of the Manitoba Prosecution Service.
Required profile
- Ability to perform prosecutorial duties as described.
- Capability to analyze police reports and provide informed legal guidance.
- Willingness to engage in community and legal education activities.
