Course Lecturer – Introduction to Practice with Groups

About the role

McGill University’s School of Social Work seeks a qualified Course Lecturer to teach SWRK 321 – Introduction to Practice with Groups during the Fall 2026 term. The position involves delivering three credit hours of classroom instruction, facilitating group learning, and assessing student performance.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver weekly lectures and lead group sessions on Wednesdays from 8:35 am to 11:25 am in Birks 111.
• Design and implement lesson plans that cover theoretical models, group dynamics, and practical skills.
• Assess student work, provide feedback, and grade assignments in accordance with university policies.
• Maintain academic integrity and contribute to the course’s continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) or equivalent.
• Minimum of four years of demonstrated clinical experience in group practice.
• Deep knowledge of group processes, theories, and diverse population work.
• Ability to articulate personal clinical experience relevant to group work.
• Prior teaching or practical application experience in social work group methods.

Required skills

• Expert understanding of theoretical models underlying group work in social work.
• Proficiency in planning, implementing, and facilitating group sessions.
• Skilled use of self in group facilitation.
