Course Lecturer – Introduction to Kanien’kéha 1

About the role

McGill University’s Faculty of Arts is seeking a Course Lecturer to teach INDG 302 – Introduction to Kanien’kéha 1. The instructor will deliver a semester‑long course covering the foundations of the Kanien’kéha language and Haudenosaunee worldviews, including basic reading, speaking, and grammatical structures.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver lectures, tutorials and language practice sessions for a 3‑credit course.
• Assess student performance through assignments, exams and participation.
• Provide feedback and support to help students develop basic proficiency in Kanien’kéha.
• Maintain course materials and update content as needed.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (PhD preferred) with specialization in Indigenous languages, linguistics or related fields.
• Demonstrated teaching experience in language or cultural coursework.
• Authorization to work in Canada and willingness to work on the McGill campus in Quebec.
• Fluency in English for communication and instruction.
