Course Lecturer for Intermediate Modern Greek (CLAS 331)

About the role

The Department of History and Classical Studies at McGill University seeks a qualified instructor to teach CLAS 331 – Intermediate Modern Greek 1 during the Fall 2026 term. The course runs on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:05 am to 11:25 am in Leacock Building, Room 819.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver in‑person lectures and facilitate classroom discussions on modern Greek language, literature, film, and music.
• Prepare teaching materials, assignments, and assessments aligned with course objectives.
• Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.
• Maintain office hours for student support and academic advising.

Required profile

• PhD or ABD in Greek language, literature, or a closely related field (preferred).
• Demonstrated experience teaching Greek language at the university level.
• Fluency in Greek (oral and written) and strong English communication skills.
• Eligibility to work in Canada and willingness to work on the Montreal campus.

Required skills

• Proficiency in modern Greek language instruction.
• Ability to present content in English.
