Cost Accountant

About the role

Magna is seeking a Cost Accountant to join its Exteriors division, supporting the development and production of automotive exterior components. The role involves detailed cost analysis, variance reporting, and collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure accurate product costing.

Key responsibilities

• Validate and audit Bill of Materials (BOMs) and routings against floor performance.
• Produce ad‑hoc variance analyses and support month/quarter/year‑end close activities.
• Prepare complex financial reports and assist with internal and external audits (SOX, Magna Year End, government).
• Create journal entries, reconcile sub‑ledgers, and maintain confidentiality of financial data.
• Provide financial and operational analysis to department leaders during budgeting and forecasting cycles.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to improve cost structures and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary education in Accounting or Finance.
• Minimum 2 years of manufacturing accounting experience in a fast‑paced automotive environment.
• Strong analytical abilities and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and ask the right questions to solve loosely defined problems.
