Co‑op Researcher – LLMs & Computer Vision

About the role

Huawei Canada’s Noah’s Ark Lab is seeking a co‑op researcher to advance state‑of‑the‑art computer‑vision and multimodal AI technologies, including large language and vision‑language models.

Key responsibilities

• Research and develop cutting‑edge computer‑vision and machine‑learning solutions.
• Work on image/video understanding, synthesis, and multimodal generation tasks.
• Explore applications of LLMs and Vision‑Language Models for intelligent agents.
• Develop and evaluate LLM/VLM‑based solutions, including prompt engineering and model adaptation.
• Consider mobile‑computing constraints when optimizing algorithms and models.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience applying machine‑learning or computer‑vision to real‑world problems.
• Academic research experience such as paper publishing.
• Familiarity with image/video generation models and multimodal AI.

Required skills

• Python programming and Git version control.
• Deep‑learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch).
• GAN, Stable Diffusion, Flux.
• Large Language Models and Vision‑Language Models.
• Fine‑tuning, supervised fine‑tuning, and reinforcement learning for LLMs.
• OpenCV, Photoshop, Blender.

What we offer

• Total target annual compensation ranging from $58,000 to $104,000 CAD, based on education, experience, and expertise.
