About the role
We are looking for a motivated Cook to join the team at Rocking Horse Pub in Nanoose Bay, British Columbia. This permanent full‑time position offers a starting wage of $21.18 per hour and involves preparing meals, managing kitchen operations, and ensuring food quality and safety. The role also supports youth employment initiatives, providing on‑the‑job training and mentorship.
Key responsibilities
- Determine portion sizes and calculate food costs.
- Plan menus and estimate food requirements.
- Requisition food and kitchen supplies.
- Prepare and cook complete meals, individual dishes, and special meals for customers with allergies or dietary restrictions.
- Inspect kitchen and food service areas to ensure cleanliness and safety.
- Train and supervise kitchen staff and helpers.
- Order supplies and equipment and maintain a clean work environment.
Required profile
- 7 months to less than 1 year of kitchen experience.
- Willingness to participate in youth employment programs and provide on‑the‑job training.
