Cook – Community Service Kitchen

About the role

The Community Builders Group is seeking a dedicated Cook to join its community service kitchen in Vancouver, BC. You will be responsible for preparing nutritious meals, supporting special events, and ensuring smooth kitchen operations for a non-profit organization.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate special events and organize buffets or banquets.
• Determine portion sizes, calculate food costs and plan menus.
• Requisition food and kitchen supplies, order equipment and maintain inventory records.
• Prepare and cook complete meals, individual dishes, and special meals for patients as directed by a dietitian.
• Adapt dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances.
• Inspect kitchen and food service areas, and ensure cleanliness of workspaces.
• Manage overall kitchen operations, including handling heavy loads and working under pressure.

Required profile

• Dependable with strong oral communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, physically demanding environment, standing for extended periods.
• Excellent attention to detail, time‑management and organizational abilities.
• Team player who can exercise good judgement and initiative.
