Controller

About the role

Our client, a long‑standing food and seafood manufacturer, is seeking a full‑time Controller for its Montreal head office. The role will oversee the preparation of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting and day‑to‑day accounting while ensuring compliance and supporting strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage corporate accounts and report directly to the President.
• Prepare financial statements, forecasts, budgets and cash‑flow analyses with a focus on profitability.
• Analyze monthly performance, track variances and guarantee accurate reporting.
• Oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, group insurance and tax filings.
• Implement cost‑accounting systems and improve project profitability.
• Lead a team of 6‑9 accounting professionals, ensuring efficient daily operations.
• Conduct costing analysis and provide financial insight for strategic decisions.
• Maintain consistent communication with the President and plant management.

Required profile

• CPA designation preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing accounting, preferably food transformation.
• Strong expertise in budgeting, reporting, costing analysis and regulatory compliance.
• Proactive leadership with the ability to manage and support an accounting team.
• Bilingual French/English preferred.
