Controller – Construction Finance Leader

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting function for a well‑established construction company in Delta, BC. Reporting directly to senior leadership, you will provide financial insight, ensure accurate reporting, and support the company’s growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a small accounting team.
• Own month‑end and year‑end close processes.
• Prepare financial statements, cash‑flow forecasts, WIP schedules, and other reports.
• Review and approve GST, payroll remittances, and regulatory filings.
• Manage project accounting, including progress draws, invoicing, holdbacks, subcontractor accounting, and change orders.
• Prepare year‑end working papers and coordinate with external advisors.
• Monitor AR/AP processes and identify efficiency improvements.
• Support implementation and optimization of accounting systems.
• Provide proactive financial analysis and recommendations to ownership and senior management.

Required profile

• CPA designation.
• Experience as Controller, Assistant Controller, or Senior Accountant in construction or development.
• Strong understanding of construction accounting principles.
• Proven ability to manage month‑end and year‑end reporting.
• Experience leading and mentoring accounting staff.
