Construction Officer – Prince George & Terrace

About the role

We are seeking Construction Officers for the North Coast Transmission Lines project in Prince George or Terrace, BC. The role acts as the client’s eyes and ears on‑site, ensuring that all civil, electrical and mechanical works are executed according to engineering designs, safety standards and contract requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect construction of substations, transmission lines and hydroelectric equipment to verify compliance with building codes, project schedules and quality standards.
• Conduct Safe Work Observations and enforce WorkSafeBC and OSH safety regulations.
• Coordinate on‑site testing, surveying and estimating activities.
• Interpret complex engineering drawings and resolve technical issues to keep projects on track.
• Collaborate with third‑party contractors and internal teams to monitor schedules, review costs and manage work orders.
• Provide on‑site technical expertise, troubleshoot problems and support field teams.
• Represent the project professionally in communications with internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of construction experience supervising or inspecting substations, transmission lines or heavy hydro infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, engineering drawings, testing, surveying, planning and costing.
• Proven ability to manage schedules, adapt to shifting priorities and lead field teams.
• Comprehensive understanding of OSH and WorkSafeBC safety standards.
• Advanced written and spoken English with strong interpersonal skills.
