Construction Manager

About the role

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to support a transformative transit infrastructure project in the east end of downtown Toronto. You will join a high‑performing project team and work closely with the Construction Director, engineering, and key stakeholders to deliver the project safely, on time, and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Construction Director in creating Construction Management Plans, conduct constructability reviews, and develop procurement strategies for permanent works and critical subcontractor packages.
• Lead a construction team of field engineers, leads, and superintendents, ensuring quality, safety, and schedule adherence across self‑perform and subcontracted scopes.
• Monitor construction progress, prepare progress reports, verify and approve progress payments, and forecast labour and equipment costs.
• Track and review changes, evaluate and negotiate claims, and coordinate construction management meetings with contractors, the owner, and engineering.
• Collaborate with engineering to resolve design issues and manage interfaces with other subcontractors.
• Oversee completion and close‑out documentation to avoid handover delays.
• Promote a strong health, safety, and environmental culture, enforce safety programs, conduct site inspections, and ensure incident reporting and investigations.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience as a Construction Manager on large‑scale rail or major infrastructure projects.
• Proven ability to read and interpret contract requirements and lead negotiations with contractors and clients.
• Advanced written and verbal communication skills with a professional relationship‑building approach.
• Demonstrated leadership in driving high‑performance teams and enforcing construction safety standards.
