Construction Estimator – Pre‑Engineered Metal Buildings

About the role

Matrix Steel Buildings Ltd. is seeking a highly motivated and detail‑oriented Construction Estimator to support its bidding and proposal process for pre‑engineered metal building supply and erection projects. The role combines technical estimating, client engagement, and tender management to deliver accurate cost proposals.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and proposals for metal building supply, erection, and related components such as snow‑retention systems, cladding, insulation, liners, roofing panels, and insulated metal panels.
• Perform material take‑offs, interpret architectural and preliminary drawings, and develop preliminary building layouts based on standard PEMB practices.
• Utilize supplier design and estimating software to create building configurations, evaluate design options, and support pricing.
• Identify and pursue public and private sector tenders (RFPs, RFQs, unsolicited bids) related to supply and erection.
• Analyze procurement documents, extract key requirements, and prepare concise executive summaries for leadership.
• Maintain organized tracking of RFP due dates, requirements, and outcomes.
• Ensure smooth handoff of awarded erection projects to internal project managers with complete documentation.
• Build and manage relationships with existing and prospective clients, attend networking events, and liaise with engineers, drafters, detailers, and sales representatives.
• Provide timely follow‑ups on estimates, communicate regularly with key accounts, and respond promptly to inbound requests.
• Assist with additional proposal‑related duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Technical knowledge of pre‑engineered metal building systems.
• Experience in construction estimating and/or bid coordination.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and tender drawings/specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
