Compliance Lawyer – Remote (up to $150/hr)

About the role

Mercor is seeking an experienced compliance and patent attorney to support AI model training. This fully remote contract position offers flexible hours and competitive hourly rates.

Key responsibilities

• Author realistic patent and compliance scenarios, including drafting, prosecution, and regulatory filings.
• Review AI‑generated answers for legal accuracy, sound reasoning, and professional standards.
• Produce “golden answer” responses with detailed rationales to improve model performance.
• Identify ambiguous, risky, or edge‑case situations as a practicing attorney would.
• Work independently and asynchronously on a project‑by‑project basis.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional experience in patent law and/or regulatory compliance.
• J.D. (or LL.B./LL.M.) from a leading US, UK, or Canadian law school.
• Active or inactive bar admission in the US, UK, or Canada, or registration with USPTO, CIPO, or UKIPO.
• Excellent written communication and ability to articulate complex legal reasoning.
