Community Support Worker (Complex Needs)

About the role

The Scope Society of Alberta seeks compassionate Community Support Workers to provide 24/7 wrap‑around support for adults with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges. You will work in clients' homes and community settings across a variety of shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Promote individual goals and aspirations.
• Support daily activities such as volunteering, employment, leisure and transport to appointments.
• Provide mental health and behavioural support, including crisis intervention.
• Assist with health maintenance, medication administration and liaison with pharmacies.
• Help with home maintenance tasks like meal preparation, cleaning and laundry.
• Foster meaningful relationships and empower client choice and rights.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary education in Disability Studies, Social Work, Psychology or a related field.
• 1–2 years experience supporting adults with dual diagnoses (developmental disability and mental health).
• Strong communication, organisational and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work in high‑stress, crisis‑prone environments.
• Clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening.

Required skills

• CPI (Crisis Prevention and Intervention) training.
• ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training).
• First Aid and CPR certification.
• Vecova Medication Administration.
