Community Health Nurse

About the role

The Government of Nunavut is seeking a full‑time, permanent Community Health Nurse to join its Health Programs team. The nurse will work directly with individuals, families, and the broader community to promote health, prevent disease, and support the wellbeing of Nunavut residents.

Key responsibilities

• Assess clients using the nursing process and develop health promotion or disease‑prevention programs.
• Make clinical decisions, manage crises, and coordinate referrals in collaboration with supervisors and other professionals.
• Arrange safe client transport and act as a medical escort when required.
• Incorporate Inuit cultural knowledge into nursing practice.
• Support orientation and mentorship of new nurses, healthcare students, and support staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Nursing degree.
• Minimum one year of experience in an acute‑care setting or equivalent community health experience.
• Eligibility to register with the College and Association of Nurses of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut (CANNN) before the start date.
• Current basic CPR certification with annual re‑certification.

• $5,000 start‑date bonus, $5,000 at 18 months, $10,000 at 30 months.
