Communications Technician – BHP Jansen (14/7 Rotation)

About the role

Plan Group is seeking an experienced Communications Technician to support the BHP Jansen site on a 14/7 rotational schedule. The role involves installing, testing, and maintaining communications infrastructure essential for site operations in a remote, industrial construction environment.

Key responsibilities

• Install structured cabling (Cat6/Cat6A) and terminate fiber optic cables.
• Perform testing, certification, and documentation of all cabling work.
• Install network equipment such as switches, wireless access points, cabinets, and racks.
• Set up and troubleshoot industrial communications systems.
• Conduct site surveys, update as‑built drawings, and maintain accurate records.
• Follow all safety protocols and contribute to a strong safety culture.
• Collaborate with project managers, site supervisors, and other trades.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience as a Communications or Low‑Voltage Technician.
• Background in industrial or large‑scale construction projects.
• Ability to work a 14/7 rotational schedule at a remote site.
• Valid SCOT, CSTS, or equivalent safety certifications.
• Valid Fall Protection, Aerial Work Platform, and Confined Space certifications.
