Communications Manager – Integrated Marketing & Communications

About the role

The Communications Manager reports to the Senior Director of Integrated Marketing and Communications and provides communication services to the Development and Alumni Engagement Portfolio at UBC. The role develops and implements print and electronic media materials that showcase the impact of fundraising and alumni engagement, creating meaningful opportunities for donors and alumni to connect with the university.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, produce, and implement communications programs and vehicles in print and electronic media to support the Portfolio’s mission.
• Assess communication requirements, create plans, and manage production timelines and budgets.
• Collaborate with the Associate Director of Communications, Alumni Engagement, Development, Events, UBC Media Relations, Brand and Marketing, external vendors, and senior administrators.
• Monitor project progress, ensure accurate reporting, and maintain alignment with portfolio‑wide communication strategies.
• Serve as a liaison between communications, alumni affairs, and donor engagement teams to deliver integrated communications offerings.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in communications, preferably within higher education, fundraising or alumni relations.
• Strong project‑management abilities with a focus on meeting deadlines and budget constraints.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to produce high‑quality content for diverse audiences.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
