Communications Coordinator

About the role

The Town of Peace River is seeking an energetic Communications Coordinator to shape and share the municipality’s story. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, you will enhance public perception of the town, its elected officials and administration through strategic internal and external communications.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and manage comprehensive communications plans for both internal audiences and the public.
• Create and distribute content across traditional media, digital platforms, the town website, social channels, video and photography.
• Coordinate media relations, press releases and storytelling initiatives that highlight infrastructure projects, community events and council decisions.
• Support event logistics and public engagement activities, ensuring consistent messaging and brand alignment.
• Collaborate with external marketing partners to amplify the town’s narrative.

• Curious storyteller who sees every project or decision as a communication opportunity.
• Calm under pressure, politically aware and able to handle difficult conversations with professionalism.
• Committed to building trust through honest, timely and thoughtful communication rather than “spin”.

Required skills

• Post‑secondary degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or equivalent experience.
• Strong command of written English.
• Proficiency with digital cameras and photography.
• Experience planning and executing event logistics.
• Ability to engage with diverse public audiences.

What we offer

• Full‑time permanent position with an annual salary range of $77,565 – $85,836 CAD.
