Communications Associate

About the role

The Communications Associate will support University Advancement’s donor acknowledgment initiatives at McGill University. Working under the Donor Communications Manager, the role ensures high‑quality, timely correspondence for major gifts and strengthens relationships with donors and prospects.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the comprehensive Acknowledgements Program for the Office of the President, VP Advancement and other UA units.
• Research donor information and draft personalized acknowledgment letters for gifts ranging from $1 K to $999 K.
• Provide guidance on acknowledgment standards and update policies in line with industry best practices.
• Collaborate with prospect managers to ensure strategic, high‑quality letters are delivered promptly.
• Write custom correspondence on behalf of senior university leaders, including congratulatory notes and letters of condolence.
• Supervise a work‑study student in mailing and ad‑hoc projects, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Required profile

• Strong research and writing abilities with attention to detail.
• Experience in donor relations or fundraising communications preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple correspondence projects and meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for collaboration with internal stakeholders.
