Communications Assistant – Social Media & Content Creation

About the role

The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences Communications Office is looking for a creative work‑study student to join its Social Media team. You will help showcase campus life by producing short‑form video, photography, and graphic content for the faculty’s social channels.

Key responsibilities

• Film, edit and produce short videos for Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts and other platforms.
• Interview students, staff and faculty and appear on‑camera as host or narrator.
• Capture casual photos at events and on campus.
• Contribute ideas for trends, video series and campaigns.
• Assist with content calendar planning and creative sessions.
• Create and edit graphics using Canva or similar tools.
• Perform analytics using data reports to assess performance metrics.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled at McGill University in an FMHS program.
• Strong command of English and French with excellent writing skills.
• Ability to meet time‑sensitive deadlines and work independently.
• Comfortable conducting interviews and engaging with the student community.
• Highly organized and familiar with Instagram and social‑media management.

Required skills

• Video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro or CapCut.
• Graphic design tools like Canva.
• Content management systems for social‑media platforms.
• Basic analytics tools for performance tracking.

What we offer

• 5 hours per week, hourly rate to be confirmed.
• Immediate start with the position running until September 2027, with possible extension.
