Co-op Engineer – Intelligent Real-Time Operating System

About the role

The Intelligent Real-Time Operating System Lab at Huawei Canada focuses on OS architecture, concurrency challenges, and optimal resource management for AI/ML workloads. As a Co‑op Engineer you will explore real‑time OS research and development for embedded, cloud, virtualized, and automotive domains, contributing to next‑generation OS platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Explore real‑time OS research and development targeting embedded devices, cloud & virtualized computing, and automotive domains.
• Contribute to building next‑generation real‑time OS technology that powers a broad range of compute platforms.
• Solve challenging problems around scheduling, resource allocation, isolation, and inter‑process communication in complex systems.
• Develop tooling and solutions to address performance challenges within the system.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience and expertise in real‑time operating system design, development, and integration.
• Experience in system software development, primarily using C/C++.
• Knowledge of CPU architecture for system software development.
• Strong ability to research complex topics, distill knowledge into concrete designs, and apply them to projects.
• Effective communication skills to document and present technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
