Clinical Skills and Simulation Lab Technician

About the role

The Clinical Skills and Simulation Lab Technician supports daily operations of the Clinical Skills and Simulation Labs (CSSL) within the School of Nursing. The role ensures teaching and learning spaces are equipped, functional, and ready for simulation‑based education and research.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, maintain, clean, and inspect lab equipment, full‑body manikins and partial task trainers for each session.
• Operate and troubleshoot simulation hardware, software, multimedia and audio‑visual equipment during teaching, research and open‑house events.
• Coordinate with course leads, simulation educators and researchers to arrange furnishings, supplies and equipment that replicate real‑world clinical scenarios.
• Assist with dismantling and resetting labs after activities and ensure all resources are stored safely.
• Provide technical support for simulation debriefing spaces and resolve any equipment issues promptly.

Required profile

• Reports to the Associate Director, Experiential Education and works collaboratively with faculty, staff and students.
• Flexibility to work evenings or Saturdays as teaching, research or operational needs dictate.
• Ability to work interdependently across both the Surrey and Point Grey campuses.

Required skills

• Operation of full‑body manikins and partial task trainers.
• Maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory and simulation equipment.
• Audio/visual and multimedia equipment handling.
• Simulation software and hardware proficiency.
