About the role

We are seeking an experienced Civil Superintendent to lead field delivery on municipal and private underground wet utility projects across the Lower Mainland. The role involves managing complex urban sites, coordinating multiple crews, and ensuring safe, on‑time completion of water, sanitary and storm infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

  • Supervise day‑to‑day operations for underground wet utility installations, including watermains, force mains, gravity sewers, storm systems, manholes and chambers.
  • Plan work areas, traffic management, sequencing, night work and shutdowns for tight urban sites.
  • Coordinate crews, subcontractors, equipment, materials, trucking and inspections to meet schedule and budget.
  • Oversee trenching, shoring, dewatering, bypass pumping, compaction, backfill and road restoration to MMCD and municipal specifications.
  • Implement safety, environmental and quality procedures such as FLHAs, toolbox talks, utility locates and erosion control.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers on look‑ahead schedules, RFIs, change events and quantity tracking.
  • Maintain daily reports, as‑builts, redlines and test records for pressure, CCTV, mandrel, air/vacuum and density tests.
  • Liaise with inspectors, engineers and owners to resolve conflicts and keep work moving.

Required profile

  • 5+ years as a Site Superintendent or Lead Foreperson on underground wet utility projects.
  • Strong knowledge of MMCD, municipal standards and local permitting/inspection processes.
  • Proven experience with deep services, live tie‑ins, traffic control in urban corridors and coordinating multiple crews.
  • Solid safety leadership with an incident‑free track record.
  • Effective communicator with ability to build productive relationships.
  • Valid BC driver’s licence; availability for night work or weekends as required.

Required skills

  • Underground wet utility installation (water, sanitary, storm).
  • Trenching, shoring, dewatering and bypass pumping.
  • Compaction, backfill and road restoration to MMCD specifications.
  • Utility locating and erosion/sediment control.
  • Reading civil drawings, profiles and shop drawings; producing accurate as‑builts.
  • Conducting pressure tests, CCTV inspections, mandrel testing, air/vacuum and density testing.
  • Traffic management in urban corridors.
