Civil Estimator

About the role

Hall Constructors is seeking a dedicated Civil Estimator to join its estimating team. Reporting to the Chief Estimator, you will prepare and submit competitive bids for civil infrastructure projects, collaborating closely with operations, project management and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accurate, timely estimates following Hall’s procedures and bid requirements.
• Review drawings, specifications, geotechnical data and contract documents to define scope, risks and pricing.
• Develop construction methodologies, crew and equipment requirements, indirect costs and preliminary schedules.
• Solicit, evaluate and compare subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Coordinate with operations and project‑management teams to incorporate field experience and historical cost data.
• Attend site visits, pre‑bid meetings and bid‑review sessions.
• Prepare bid forms, proposals, assumptions, exclusions and ensure compliant tender submissions.
• Provide detailed handover documentation for successful bids.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of construction estimating experience on civil infrastructure projects (earthworks, utilities, roadworks, concrete works).
• Post‑secondary education in civil engineering, construction management or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Valid BC Class 5 driver’s licence.
• Experience with local subcontractors and knowledge of Lower Mainland construction practices is an asset.
• Professional designations such as P.Eng, EIT, AScT, GSC, CET or PQS are considered a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid and HeavyJob.
• Experience using Bluebeam Revu, Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and Teams.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and digital take‑off software (e.g., Carlson).
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and contract documents and produce accurate quantity take‑offs.
