Children's Program Mentor (Part‑Time, After‑School)

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Children’s Program Mentor to lead after‑school activities for kids aged 6‑13 at three schools in York Region. The role is part‑time, working on Mondays, Wednesdays and/or Fridays from 2:40 PM to 5:30 PM, from October 2026 to June 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver physical, arts, STEM and nutrition activities that cater to diverse learning styles.
• Teach motor‑skill and physical‑activity lessons to support children’s development.
• Supervise participants, promote safety, respect, conflict‑resolution and life‑skill learning.
• Maintain health‑and‑safety standards for food preparation and storage.
• Communicate with parents/guardians, school administrators and internship supervisors.
• Monitor weekly attendance and keep accurate documentation.

Required profile

• Relevant educational background; experience working with children is an asset.
• Strong abilities in sports, arts, recreation, STEM, technology, health or nutrition.
• Team‑player with good decision‑making and problem‑solving skills.
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR‑C certification (to be obtained on hire).
• Police reference check (to be completed on hire); reliable transportation recommended.
