Chef de Cuisine – South Indian & Halal

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Chef de Cuisine to lead our kitchen in Mississauga. The role involves overseeing food preparation, creating menus, and ensuring high‑quality dishes for our South Indian, vegetarian, and halal offerings.

Key responsibilities

• Estimate amounts and costs of supplies and food items.
• Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales and inventory.
• Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to kitchen staff.
• Create new recipes and innovate menu items.
• Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation.
• Prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events such as banquets.
• Supervise cooks and other kitchen staff.
• Requisition food and kitchen supplies.
• Consult with clients regarding weddings, banquets and specialty functions.
• Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards.
• Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances.
• Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food.

Required profile

• Secondary school graduation certificate.
• 2‑3 years experience in a restaurant kitchen.
• Experience with South Indian, vegetarian and halal cuisine.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment under pressure.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods.
