Chef – Culinary Leader

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Chef to lead our kitchen team at Newrest Montreal Corporation’s cafeteria in Dorval. The role involves overseeing food preparation, ensuring quality standards, and supporting staff development in a fast‑paced, wet/damp environment.

Key responsibilities

• Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to kitchen staff.
• Supervise 5‑10 cooks, sous‑chefs and other kitchen personnel.
• Prepare and cook meals, including specialty dishes for guests with allergies or intolerances.
• Plan menus, source ingredients and ensure all food meets quality and safety standards.
• Arrange equipment purchases, repairs and maintain kitchen inventory.
• Train staff in food preparation, handling and safety procedures.

Required profile

• College, CEGEP or equivalent culinary certificate (3 months to <1 year program).
• 3 to 5 years of experience in a restaurant or cafeteria setting.
• Cook Trade Certification.
• Strong leadership, reliability and excellent oral communication.
• Ability to lift 45‑60 kg and stand for extended periods.
