Casual Early Childhood Educator

About the role

The Casual Early Childhood Educator works under the direction of the Principal and partners with the classroom teacher to deliver a full‑day early learning program. This position provides supervision and age‑appropriate programming for groups of students as part of the extended day program, stepping in on a casual basis to cover absences of permanent staff.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the classroom teacher to design and implement play‑based learning experiences that support holistic development.
• Create a warm, faith‑filled classroom environment aligned with the Board’s vision and values.
• Assist in delivering the Ontario Kindergarten curriculum, adapting activities to meet diverse student needs.
• Participate in student assessments, contributing to progress reports and report cards.
• Maintain classroom safety, manage emergencies, and follow Board policies.
• Physically support children as needed, including lifting and moving equipment.

Required profile

• Successful completion of an Early Childhood Education program (typically two years) or equivalent.
• Minimum two years of experience working with children.
• Active member in good standing with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators.
• Knowledge of the Ministry of Education kindergarten program and related documents.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Required skills

• Basic computer skills and familiarity with Board‑approved software.
