Caregiver Coordinator

About the role

The Caregiver Coordinator works on an alternating compressed 4‑day week to support kinship, traditional, and foster caregivers within the SCFSS network. Reporting to the Resource Team Leader, the role builds culturally safe caregiver networks, advocates for children’s wellbeing, and collaborates with Elders and community partners.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain relationships with caregivers, families, Elders, and community members.
• Coordinate recruitment, engagement, education, and support activities for caregivers.
• Assist caregivers in meeting developmental, emotional, cultural, and wellness needs of children.
• Facilitate access to resources, training, and community supports to promote placement stability.
• Provide mentorship on trauma‑informed care, mental wellness, self‑care, and child development.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create coordinated support plans.
• Monitor caregiver wellbeing, manage referrals, and ensure timely interventions.
• Maintain accurate documentation and reporting in line with Delegated Services and MCFD requirements.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of caregiver support, family preservation, and culturally safe practices.
• Knowledge of trauma‑informed, strengths‑based, and relationship‑based approaches.
• Experience working with Indigenous children, families, or communities.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple cases, deadlines, and documentation.
• Clear Criminal Record Check and MCFD Prior Contact Check, plus a valid Class 5 BC driver’s license.
