Captain – 500T Master Domestic (Passenger Transfer Vessel)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Captain to command a 500‑ton passenger transfer vessel operating in Howe Sound, BC. The role focuses on the safe and efficient movement of personnel, emergency response, and compliance with all maritime regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the vessel safely in accordance with Transport Canada and CSA regulations.
• Conduct pre‑departure checks, routine inspections, and daily reporting on fuel, labour, and incidents.
• Maintain vessel inventory of fuel and spare parts and oversee day‑to‑day maintenance.
• Ensure crew levels meet safe‑manning requirements and provide performance feedback.
• Support crew development through mentoring, training, and knowledge sharing.
• Act as a company ambassador in all interactions with clients, the public, and team members.

Required profile

• Valid Transport Canada 500T Certificate of Competency (Master 500T Domestic).
• Prior experience as a Captain of a 500T vessel in a similar environment.
• Current Seafarers Medical Certificate and MED/STCW certifications.
• ROC‑MC, Advanced Firefighting and Marine Advanced First Aid qualifications.
