Canada Regional Controller

About the role

Gates, a leading manufacturer of fluid power and power transmission solutions, is seeking a Canada Regional Controller to lead accounting, controllership, and financial compliance for its Canadian operations. Based in Brantford, you will report to the Director of Accounting, Americas and drive finance transformation across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all accounting and controllership activities for the Canada region, ensuring accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
• Maintain compliance with US GAAP, Canadian statutory requirements, SOX controls, and company accounting policies.
• Manage local payroll, treasury, tax, and compliance functions.
• Oversee the regional month‑end close, including journal entry review, account reconciliations, accruals, and balance‑sheet analysis.
• Ensure integrity of the regional general ledger and financial statements.
• Partner with corporate accounting for consolidated reporting and technical accounting matters.
• Drive finance transformation initiatives such as process standardization, automation, and ERP optimization.

Required profile

• Strong technical accounting expertise under US GAAP and Canadian regulations.
• Proven leadership experience in finance transformation and continuous improvement.
• Ability to collaborate with regional business leaders, operations, commercial, FP&A, tax, internal audit, and corporate teams.
