Cabinetmaker – Custom Cabinet & Millwork Specialist

About the role

Masterpiece Cabinetry and Millwork Inc is seeking an experienced cabinetmaker to join our custom cabinet shop in Ottawa. You will work on residential and renovation projects, creating high‑quality built‑in units, kitchen cabinets, and millwork.

Key responsibilities

• Operate woodworking machines such as power saws, jointers, mortisers and shapers to cut, shape and form components.
• Prepare specifications, layouts and estimates for custom cabinets, ensuring compliance with building codes.
• Shape surfaces and edges using hand tools (planes, chisels, wood files) and apply veneer, stain, polish or laminate finishes.
• Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements.
• Instruct apprentices, work with minimal supervision, and travel regularly to job sites.
• Maintain, repair and renovate wooden structures in various settings.

Required profile

• 2 to less than 3 years of hands‑on cabinetmaking or millwork experience.
• Physically capable of demanding work, including lifting, bending, crouching and standing for long periods.
• Team player with a client‑focused attitude and reliable work ethic.
• Willingness to work evenings, mornings or full days as needed.

Required skills

• Power saws, jointers, mortisers, shapers.
• Hand planes, chisels, wood files.
• Sanding equipment and veneer/laminate application.
• Blueprint reading and measuring tools.
• Cost estimating, tender and quotation preparation.
