Business Controller – Manufacturing (Hybrid, Kingston)

About the role

We are seeking a Business Controller to lead the finance function of a newly acquired manufacturing operation in Kingston. Reporting to the Head of Finance and the General Manager, you will build finance controls, processes, and reporting from the ground up while integrating the business into the parent company's global finance framework.

Key responsibilities

• Own month‑end close on a 3‑day cycle and coordinate with Central European time zones.
• Lead the external audit preparation, documentation, and follow‑through.
• Establish internal controls, SOPs, and a risk‑and‑control matrix.
• Run FP&A, budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis for operations leaders.
• Manage standard costs, job costing, inventory accuracy and cycle counts.
• Oversee AP/AR relationships with an external accounting firm.
• Bridge local operations with the parent’s Finance Center of Excellence.
• Build reporting solutions in Excel and Power BI.

Required profile

• CPA (or in final stages) with a finance/accounting degree.
• 5–7+ years in accounting, financial control or business control roles.
• Hands‑on QuickBooks Online experience – you have owned the system.
• Manufacturing experience, including job costing and inventory management.
• Audit experience, preferably as the lead contact.
• Strong Excel and Power BI skills.
• Familiarity with IFRS.
• Proven track record of building or rebuilding processes in loosely structured environments.
• Willingness to commute to Kingston, ON three days per week.
