Building Operator – Facilities Maintenance (GTA)

About the role

Black & McDonald’s Facilities Maintenance team is expanding its operations across the Greater Toronto Area. As a Building Operator you will be responsible for maintaining the performance, safety and efficiency of a variety of building systems on multiple sites.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct routine property and site inspections and perform preventive and demand‑driven maintenance tasks.
• Inspect, operate, maintain and repair boilers, chillers, HVAC equipment, pumps, generators, UPS and life‑safety systems.
• Monitor electrical power distribution and building automation systems, responding promptly to alarms.
• Perform minor repairs such as faucet replacements, drain clearing, pump or motor swaps, and breaker resets.
• Ensure energy efficiency and compliance with all applicable codes and regulations.

Required profile

• 1‑3 years of facilities maintenance and operations experience as a Building Operator.
• Ability to work independently, travel to various GTA sites and hold a valid driver’s licence with a clean abstract.
• Strong communication, problem‑solving and teamwork skills, with a focus on customer service.
• Vaccination proof required to meet client mandates and ability to obtain necessary security clearance.

Required skills

• Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems.
• Experience with Building Automation System (BAS) and life‑safety equipment.
• Hands‑on ability to service boilers, chillers, pumps, generators and UPS units.
